Some Smooth Jazz

This a commission I did for a show in Canada. I was asked to draw Jazz paling around with a Jazz-esk version of a My Little Pony.

And in case your not much of a Pony fan, there’s a Bumblebee version too!

Ghost Rider INKS

Seeing as, I too am a motorcycle enthusiast with a flaming skull for a head I felt obligated to draw a Ghost Rider piece. Here’s the inks! The flames took forever to figure out, but I think the end result came out pretty unique.

Transformers Legacy …and maybe my own.

My latest book Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging is finally out after a bit of delays. The 300 page book celebrates all that incredible airbrushed artwork that appeared on the toy’s boxes we grew up with. It also contains some unused artwork we managed to find.

In many ways I’ve been working on this book since around 2006 before we published the first Transformers Ark book. But in this last year, my pal Jim Sorenson and I were actually able to fulfill our dream and put together a book I fantasized about since I was 12 years old.

Here’s some images of the book thanks to Mick Blanchard.

Here’s a 30 minute fan-made review of Legacy showing every single page of the book!

How to Make Machine Guns in 30 Minutes

The dance studio Luscious Mavens puts on these themed shows, like Wild West or Outer Space. For their 1980′s themed show they had an A-Team dance routine that required the entertainers to have some prop machine guns. Gone are the days where you can get a realistic toy gun at the local Toys ‘Я’ Us, so they had to mail order them. In the meantime, they needed “sticks or something” for their dress rehearsals. So I cranked these out one morning…

Here’s Hannibal with her M-16. The cigar is fake too.

I drew out a machine gun silhouette on some printer paper I taped together.

Then I cut out the gun.

Then I used the cut out paper as a stencil to trace multiple guns onto form core.

With an X-acto knife I cut out the guns from the foam core.

Then spray paint some M-16′s.

You’ve just hired the A-Team!

My Little Pony #21 cover

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic #21 cover I did for IDW. SPOILER ALERT! The script was about Trixie accidentally losing a diamond, hence the missing diamond in her hoof on the upside-down version of her. So she’s the Ace of Diamonds. Applejack had to be a Jack card. I choose the Jack of Spades so it would be black and thereby different from the red Ace in the foreground. Rarity was originally the Queen of Hearts for obvious reasons, but her hair ended up blocking the card. You can still see it a little bit. Sadly Fluttershy’s is unseen.

I think my favorite part of this is Angel in the upper corner. I love his grumpy face!

Here’s the cover without the logo and credits.

Here’s some process images. This first is an early pencil sketch with a logo dropped in to help lay it out the page correctly. Next is the inked version. The third image is a color version before the shading, highlights and color holds are out down. Note: Babs Seed’s head changed a few times. I was trying to make her look worried, but that really isn’t her character so I couldn’t capture her essence. Once I decided to make her look disinterested, I got it!

UPDATE: Someone sent me a link to a review of issue #21 where the author refered to me as “MLP new boy Bill Forster.” I thought that was fun so I thought I would share. Check out the review here: louderyay.blogspot.com

Together Wonderful Bag Line

I worked with designer Jillian Wilschke to develop a line of bags based on characters inspired by properties like Hello Kitty. What we came up with was Together Wonderful. A bunch animals that find adventure in their own backyard. Each character has his or her own personality.

There’s the bashful Winston the Fox, the adventurer Amelia the Cat, good ‘ol Gus the Pup, the grumpy Sunny the Bunny and of course the bookish Bluebeary!

Here’s their little bios:
